i listen to music at work mainly to keep from hearing annoying sounds; cell phones, desk phones, sports conversations.
when i want to focus on task, i listen to fever ray’s ‘if i had a heart’ on a continuous loop till the task is done or i’m tired of the song.
considering that the first time i heard the song was during breaking bad where jessie is driving the go-cart and dealing with killing gale, you’d think i’d pick another song.
i do think if that scene when i’m listening to the song, but it does calm me and focuses my attention.
if you’re sick, STAY HOME!
with CNN and the CDC
creating a level of panic reporting on the spread of this season’s flu, i have one bit of advice;
SEE TITLE OF POST!
the reason i am angry is that i was supposed to go hiking this weekend, but due to a coworker coming to work sick for 2 days, i am not feeling well. what’s worse about this coworker is that i’ve seen them pick their nose. who knows what they touch afterwards, but after i touch a shared office item, (fridge, copier) i use hand sanitizer.
i don’t have the flu, i have mild congestion and a cough which i’ve been treating with medicine and split pea soup. i’m on the fence of getting better or getting worse, so i’m staying home to rest.
the upside to all this is that i’ve been watching the toy story trilogy on blu-ray. tomorrow is part 3.
I’m using a sick day cause I’m sick of working with you people
that’s almost what i did this past weekend. i did enjoy the outdoors saturday. i had planned to go biking on sunday, but the weather wasn’t enjoyable so i stayed in and played the last stand dead zone
a weird dream, even for me
last night’s dream - i was a cast member of Saturday Night Live and i was performing in a skit where i was a male model wearing a silly outfit while the designer explained it as a serious look. i was getting many laughs when Fred Armisen, as another male model, came over and began tearing my clothes. This wasn’t part of the skit, but his actions got the audience to laugh. So started tearing his clothes, which got bigger laughs from the audience. We went back and forth, then it got serious. I not sure who started it, but we ended up fighting which prompted the cast and crew to separate us.
As we began to cool down, my boss from work (?) came over to me and said that we were having a emergency meeting about what happened. I changed into my clothes and proceeded to walk towards the meeting. I had to take a big escalator (comparable to the ones at the Palisades Mall) up to the top floor of our building. The meeting room was huge! The room itself was the size of a banquet hall, the walls were at least 3 floors high. The table in the middle of the room could seat 20 on each side, which was good since my entire team from work was there, along with Fred’s team (made up of random coworkers of mine) As i tried to find a seat, the only free seat was next to Fred when i walked in, the president of the company came in. I knew this was a big meeting.
I managed to find a seat near the president and his team, which made me nervous until i realized that i was going to present my side of the story first.
I made my case that as a performer on SNL we’re given “30 seconds” of time to make the audience laugh and that maybe my performance wasn’t getting them and that Fred’s actions weren’t part of the script. My “lawyer” began to chime in and when turned to see who it was, i was surprised it was Agent Coulson from the Avengers movie! He backed me up and i could see that the president was siding with me. He didn’t help Fred that he was mumbling and not paying attention.
The dream got a little fuzzy at this point, but i do remember Fred coming over and apologizing by saying “I’m sorry Elizabeth” which was him being funny. I was about to relpy, i dont find his apology sincere since he can’t use my name…
but then i woke up
new responsibility at work
person A is given a task from person B. person B will tell person A to ask me if they have any questions.
person A will ask me a question about the task, i answer them. person A asks me again because they aren’t sure of my answer. i ask person B the question from person A, person B gives the same answer as me.
One good thing about getting home late from work; The Chive’s D.A.R. is waiting for me KCCO
Women have worked long and hard to prove they’re equal at work; yet they throw it all away when they wear flip flops to the office
