last night i went for a bike ride. i was just about to grab my bike when i realized i forgot my phone. for a second, i wasn’t going to bring it, then changed my mind. as i was putting it in my pocket, i thought back to when i was 12/13 and would ride from my house to the comic book store. this was the early 80’s and cell phones weren’t around (or they were just for the rich)
i’d tell my mom or dad that i was going to the comic book store and i’ll be back soon. granted the route i took was a safe neighborhood. back then all i had to worry about was any bullies on the way (which never happened)
the dangerous part of the trip was when i got to commerce street; people drove on that road faster than the posted speed limit and i had to ride on the sidewalk. i never ran into a pedestrian luckily.
